Spice Spice Baby!!! This homemade Mexican spice blend is so versatile, I put it on everything! From soups, sauces and chilis to roasted vegetables, fries or baked potatoes. I’ve even been known to put this on my popcorn!!!

Ready to make some Mexican spice?
A great perk to making this homemade, it’s by far more economical than the package stuff. Not to mention that this is so easy to whip up there’s always a batch in my pantry.
Since this is simply a mix of spices, it will keep for as long as your spices normally would. The recommendation is six months, but I gotta be truthful, I know I have spices in my pantry past that timeframe. I always make a huge batch, honestly, we go through it pretty quickly. I keep mine in an airtight container for maximum freshness.
This Mexican spice blend is absolutely customizable. I use smoked paprika, if all you have on hand is regular paprika, that will work. I like a little heat, so I use cayenne pepper, you can omit this if that is not your preference. I make this using very little salt, you can even omit this altogether if you are watching your sodium intake. Even with a little dash of salt, this is by far WAY better sodium content than the packaged deal. If you are adding this to a stir fry, you can add a teaspoon of cornstarch to help it coat everything.
