This vegan Spicy Black Bean Dip is so addicting, you better make a double batch! The creamy texture and the spicy and smokey flavor will have your guests coming back for more, that is if you’re sharing. This recipe is so quick and simple, you will never buy store bought again!

With just a few simple ingredients that you may already have on hand, this dip can be made in minutes. And the ingredients are versatile, if you don’t have any jalapeño on hand, just use what you may have, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce would be a wonderful substitute. This is what makes this dip so economical and practical.

Is bean dip healthy?

Well, that depends on how it is prepared, this recipe is healthy, by using whole black beans and spices, there are no artificial ingredients or lard added. Also, we have control over what goes into the dip, I like to keep my sodium content in check. The flavor comes from the spices and herbs. Black beans are a wonderful source of protein and fiber, aiding in lowering blood pressure and weight loss. There’s a whopping 7.5 grams of protein in only half a cup! But then there’s the dilemma of what to dip in it!? You can use homemade whole wheat pita chips or vegetables and you have yourself a nutritious snack. This also makes a great spread as a base for veggie wraps or veggie pita pockets.

Let’s make our Spicy Black Bean Dip

A can of black beans, garlic clove, pepper and lime juice.

There’s not a lot to say about this recipe, you add all the ingredients to a food processor and viola, you have yourself the best bean dip ever! Garnish with some fresh cilantro, pepper flakes or a lime wedge for a picture perfect appetizer that would be a hit at any party.
